WHY MOTOR SAFETY IS IMPORTANT
There is an increase in the rate of accidents, serious injuries, and fatalities. According to the Ministry of Interior (MOI) in 2016, there were 4,788 accidents reported. The UAE’s population is close to 9,304,277 and that’s about 6.1 accidents per 10,000 people in the country. Sixty-three percent (63%) of the accidents are linked to road traffic.
According to the WHO, one child is killed in road accidents every three minutes in the world. Approximately 1.35 million people die each year as a result of road traffic crashes. As per HAAD Health Statistics 2007 on World Report on Road Traffic Injury Prevention, Abu Dhabi city has the highest road deaths in the world (27.4%). Most of the road accidents involve young drivers. About fifty-five percent (55%) belongs to the age group of 18 - 24 yrs. old.
In 2008 – 2010, there were 4.6 million traffic violations registered in 2017 in Abu Dhabi. Most of the violations were committed by 18 – 30 age group, 44.8% as per the statistics of the police.

There were 4 leading causes of accidents for young drivers according to Gulf News and those are
1.Speeding
2. Use of indicators
3.Tailgating,
4.Distracted driving.
Speeding is on top because most of the young drivers claim they speed so they can show off to others or impress them.

WAYS TO LESSEN ROAD ACCIDENTS
There are several ways to help improve the figure on road accidents and deaths due to car accidents. People and institution that can play an important role in providing proper advice and knowledge about being a responsible driver. We have the parents, education system (universities & schools), peers and mentors (for new driver).
To help address the increasing rate of accidents in UAE, our goal was to launch Motor Safety campaign in UAE University campus. Through this the students and faculty members will be aware and equipped on how to do safety motor measures to be effective and efficient and they will  also be educated about the traffic laws, rules and regulations. By this they would be responsible driver and will be able to promote safe driving information to others.
